Farrah Hasnain

Farrah Hasnain is an American writer and researcher based in Tokyo, Japan. She is currently conducting ethnographic research on Brazilian Sansei residents, migration, and identity for her Masters thesis, and has published research on the topic since 2016. She has been featured in The New York Times, Al Jazeera, TV Tokyo, NHK, and more.
Since 2018, she has been a contributing writer for The Japan Times, and has covered various topics, including minority experiences in Japan, social media influencers, and reviews on English education materials. Since May 2020, she has actively contributed translations and real-time news updates on the incidents revolving around Hana Kimura's passing.
